FEELS LIKE SPRING

After 4 days and 4 inches of badly needed rain, we now have blue skies. Life is in full swing once again here at the Bear. The creek is roaring and the birds are singing; the winds wisper through the trees. All the little streams are going full blast so I guess now is the time to clean out the spring box, pelton intake, etc. I'm learning quickly that with the rains, these intakes/ditches have to be regulated to the flow of the water or everything gets out of whack! Theory has done a wonderful job of organizing the workshop (you can walk around in there). Mike has devoted himself to the greenhouse the past few days and its a sight to behold. The MainHouse is super clean and organized and Ernesto has been taking care of electrical issues we have. Yesterday was our "heaviest" rain day and Dorianne made a big batch of jalapeno breadsticks, and sweet and savory loaves of bread......just the thing for a rainy day! I understand that the Bear owns a roto-tiller and that it was sent to Sawyers about two years ago for some repairs. Does anybody know anything about this? Who might have it in Sawyers, etc. Magdeline has been stingy with her milk....don't know whats up with her but she's hardly giving any these days.....guess she's having a goat depression or something. Anyway...."old" Bears.......come on up and visit..........we'd love to see ya.

Wasn't that rain refreshing? It could rain everyday this month and all I would do is grin and thank the skies. Your post sounds uplifting once again- good to hear that some progress is being made. I can't tell you how nice it is to hear someone make the connection between heavy rains and the need to maintain the systems after such weather (you rock and roll John and apparently use that critical thinking stuff that has been mentioned on this site). So aboot the rota-tiller (sp?)- it is at Tom and Nancy's who live down at Sawyers bar- their house is almost directly across from Eddie Gulch bridge/road. Maybe when someone visits from the area they can bring it up. I don't know their contact (Kit does, but I don't imagine I will be contacting him for that). They have borrowed it for about a year now and when I asked Kit if it could be returned he was...um....unresponsive. Soooooo, that's all I know and I will help get it returned if I can when I come up. I want to come up this weekend, but it may be next week or weekend. I have a wonderful friend coming from Oklahoma who wants to eventually move up there as well. I'm working hard down here so that my path leads me up there as soon as possible. I've wanted to return to the Bear to live for everyday that I've been away- I feel that I have lived for too long away from home. I love yall up there and can't wait to see the progress that's been made. I will write again before I come up. :) Kat
