I am also greatly looking forward to getting together with old and new folks in the Black Bear Family for the 40th anniversary of the Ranch. As is a frequent outcome of our Black Bear get Togethers, there will likely be new freinds to meet and to share with, and some will likely become new family members and stay a while at the Ranch to bring new life and energy.. Living at Black Bear Ranch, communally, has been a unique and mind expanding experience for so many of us who desire to increase our ability to live together on the Planet and to develop skills to take care of ourselves, each other, and the Earth. I feel blessed to be included in this as one family member. I often refer to the Black Bear Family Trust for some key tenants to help me remember how to be at Black Bear and what to expect.
There are some things I am both interested in and have to offer for the Black Bear Family Solstice -40th Reunionthat we're going to have at Black Bear Ranch this summer in June.
I think we should all be communicating now to help create the kind of event that we all remember as one that was reuniting, celebratory, constructive, safe for everyone, and productive on the physical, emotional, and who knows- could be even spiritually.
I like the suggestion of it being something other than just another party on the river where people mainly were getting toasted as a key goal. Someone mentioned it being a "no alcohol" event, which is interesting and could be appropriate. I'ld be into helping develop some group activities such as - food (planning, getting, preparing and clean up), work parties (before, during and/or after) , circles for all being in one place and sharing together, some group visioning circles, theater events, music, swimming, sweats, hikes, workshops, etc.. I am interested in what other folks think about these things and to see how we can best coordinate and work together.
I also want to be sure that there is a good connection and feeling with the current residents for this event and in general, as they are the residents of Black Bear now and they are the ones who are guiding the communal day to day living, work, sharing, and group decisions. We should figure out how we can best accommodate each others needs and goals at Black Bear, as reasonably as possible. This is a good medium for communal living anyway, as all of us are created equal and our voice is what we have in common.
Anyways, these are some of my thoughts initially. Please share what your thinking and let's work together to make the 40th a great event for all.
Peace and Love
Petey

Tue, April 29, 2008 - 3:53 PMwell said Petey.
I like your reminder about the trust (among other things) it's a great (if slightly dry) document to read every once in a while as a reminder of some core shared values for the land and community.

Re: Black Bear
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 1:16 AMHey all people that give a fuck about Black Bear it is in grave danger. I was called there a few years ago by the trees in the knob and meteor timber sales and sat untill what I was told 200,000 acres were saved. This is when I met petey, who I was pretty impressed with. I lived at Black Bear before internet and had a pretty good experience. But I am ignorant to everything but what is in my heart and I have gone back and visited in the last two years, but nobody really new who I was. Women and children be careful going there alone I was threatened by Allegra Petey's daughter and her husband monk with a baby in my arms that if I went to certain parts of what they considered Black Bear they would become phsical with me. My first reaction is well what did you do. But I believe I did nothing but have hope in my heart for a safe place for my child and me. I was lied about, stolen from, and harrassed while the Salmon River watched and turned their heads. But there also was alot of good stuff of sharing and caring but it's scary that the only place I have hope for has become so violent. What I believe to be happening is (where maybe the only place my opinion use to matter as a women, but no more) that there are cop infultrators at the Ranch (or some ignorant ass rich white kids) who are not allowing people that could really make achange inthe world to be allowed into the community. I also warn the Salmon River Community they are trying to spread fear through your community to allienate eachother. You can't just lie and say whatever about people because of your own insecurities. It will ome back to you. Thankyou for keeping us safe and letting us be with my mother Black Bear on Mother's Day. These trees are my only friends and you will take them over my dead body. And please anybody, Elsa make our home safe again. Watchers of the Harmony libertydoog@yahoo.com So may the 40th bring so much LOVE and protect the community and home we have all invisioned in our hearts so black bear may remain a safe place for women, children and people of all ages. Blessed be -

Re: Black Bear
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 6:44 PMYes, I am extremly serious. And am very concerned about what is actually happening at Black Bear these days, how people are being treated, the families associated for extended periods of time, their intentions and most impotantly the very beautiful consiciousness at Black Bear. My experience of visiting there over the last year has really made me feel for the natives living in the area. When I lived at Black Bear hitch-hiking around the river, some native families brought me to their homes showing me where parts of their land had been stolen by the gov't. I saw where their families graves had been bull-dosed and some of their bones and baskets torn from the ground, I'm afraid that this mentality has spread over the area. Thankyou for caring. I don't know what to do. But any questions that I could answer for you, don't be afraid to ask. I just hope that this years 40th can bring enough love to maintain one place where community may actually live in Harmony with the Earth. Blessed be, Shelley. You can reach me on my cell.1.530.227.5361. Thankyou, blessed be.
P.S. When I lived there I actally had to stop someone that lived there but was gone alot from dredge mining. I'm alive because of the beautiful gifts the Sacred Salmon River has given me protecting me and nursing me back to health. But also the Salmon River trees still stand because I protected them. I wish nothing but to unite people together to keep our homes safe. People before Profit
